Tiger by the Tail 4H Club

Project led by Waverly Intermediate School

About the project.

The Tiger By the Tail 4H Club is a school based 4H club for students in grades 3-5 at Waverly Intermediate School. “In 4‑H programs, kids and teens complete hands-on projects in areas like health, science, agriculture and civic engagement in a positive environment where they receive guidance from adult mentors and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles.” (4-h.org)

The club aims to impact students who may not have access to a 4H club outside the school setting; students who may lack transportation and/or financial means for participation. Through participation in this group, students will build a sense of connection to their school community, as well as take on leadership roles within the club and outreach into the larger community by participating in volunteer service projects.

FAO staff comments.

4-H is a valuable experience for many in Appalachian Ohio. By providing a school based club to students who may not otherwise participate, Tiger By the Tail Club opens new doors to hands on education for youth in Pike County.
