Summer Book Bike Program

Project led by Jackson City Library

About the project.

This Cause Connector project promotes literacy and learning for children in Jackson County.

The Jackson City Library wants to increase the literacy of children in Jackson County by transporting books to various free lunch sites for kids using a bike trailer filled with books. This is one way that the library can keep kids engaged with reading during the summertime. The book bike trailer will also transport craft kits to keep the program educational and fun.

FAO staff comments.

The Summer Book Bike program combines summer meal programs with books and other activities to keep young people engaged over the summer. Summer learning loss for reading and literacy skills affects many of the region’s students, and this program aims to mitigate those summer learning losses.
