Summer Arts Programs
Project led by French Art ColonyAbout the project.
The summer youth programs provide interactive, hands-on learning experiences for kids and teens between the ages of 3-18.
Programs focus on a variety of topics including art, science, theatre, music, dance, storytelling, and cooking/baking. Programs allow students to practice critical thinking, math, teamwork, and other important skills in an exciting and fun setting.
Due to our location, opportunities for youth to participate in STEAM-focused summer activities are limited and many require families to travel to a larger city such as Huntington or Athens, which can be prohibitive. Our hope is that by providing local programs, we can make them more accessible to the families in our community.
FAO staff comments.
Young people need opportunities to engage in the intersection of art and science, providing opportunities to develop lifelong critical thinking and math skills. Further, programs like the French Art Colony’s Summer Youth Programs will allow Gallia County youth to explore and discover new passions they might not have otherwise known they had in their own backyard.
We know young people in Appalachian Ohio often times have fewer opportunities for enrichment activities, but programs like this one are providing those programs locally, increasing access to them.
