Leading with Love Closet

Project led by Newcomerstown Exempted Village School District

About the project.

The L.E.A.D.ing with Love closet will house winter coats/hats/gloves, basic clothing, holiday concert apparel, personal care items, non-perishable foods, and facemasks. The PTO and teachers try to fill the ever expanding needs of elementary students but each year the need for these items increases.

This closet would support an increase of the number of students served by including all students, Pre-K – 12th grade. In the past, clothing items were returned, laundered and returned to storage, for the next student in need. However with Covid-19, items are now retained by students. Storage is another difficulty. This grant provides for three rolling clothes racks which will help with organization.

Any amount of funding will help this project move forward.

FAO staff comments.

Programs like this one recognize that many factors contribute to a child’s educational success. When students do not have their basic needs met, learning becomes difficult or impossible.

This program helps students meet their basic needs, and it also helps to set students up for success in the classroom. Ultimately, this program can support better health and educational outcomes to make a lasting difference for students and ultimately strengthen whole communities.
