Jazz Outreach Program

Project led by Appalachian Muse

About the project.

Appalachian Muse provides students in Guernsey and Muskingum counties with a first-hand jazz experience, featuring professional jazz musicians.

The grant supports the cost of the professional musicians as they work in schools with students of various ages, providing workshops and performances.

FAO staff comments.

In a context of declining funding for in-school arts and music programs within Appalachian Ohio, the Jazz Outreach Program provides an important opportunity for students to cultivate artistic talents while learning about a distinctly American art form.

Success since funding.

The project brought the Jazz Outreach Program to the Cambridge, Buckeye Trail, East Muskingum, Rolling Hills, and Zanesville City School Districts in Guernsey and Muskingum counties.
