Fair to Family

Project led by Vinton County 4-H Advisory Council

About the project.

The Fair to Family Program supports families who rely upon St. Francis Food Pantry as a supplemental food source. This project will seek to purchase extra market hogs from 4-H and FFA exhibitors at the Vinton County Fair. Animals will then be processed locally and the ground meat will be donated to the St. Francis Food Pantry in McArthur, OH. Previously this project was able to provide around 200 pounds of meat from two and a half hogs to St. Francis. This year the intention is to be able to provide over 600 pounds of ground pork from six hogs!

FAO staff comments.

The Fair to Family initiative would connect the families that rely upon the St. Francis Food Pantry in Vinton County with access to fresh meat by covering the local processing of the 4-H Fair Hogs, keeping the impact close to home through all phases of the project.
