Books for Educators and Students

Project led by Foundation for Appalachian Ohio and First Book

About the project

FAO and First Book, a national nonprofit social enterprise providing free and low-cost books and other resources to educators, have partnered to sign over up over 1,000 educators for access to First Book’s Marketplace and Book Bank, reaching 30,000 students across the region.

However, we know there more educators and students we can reach in Appalachian Ohio.

Dollars through this project will support gift certificates for a wide-range of educators across the region – from classroom educators to out-of-school time programs and anyone supporting young people – to purchase books and other educational products through the First Book Marketplace and Book Bank.

Help connect educators and students alike to these resources!

FAO staff comments.

Too often we hear stories of educators giving greatly of themselves to stock their classrooms with the books and other resources their students deserve and need. First Book certificates will alleviate these pressures while also connecting educators with the broader First Book network, providing not only books and other educational resources to educators, but also connecting them with other resources like reading guides, social emotional learning materials, and many others that are provided through the First Book network.
