Baby Olympics

Project led by The Diaper Depot

About the project.

The Diaper Depot, a mission of Hillsboro First Baptist Church, has provided nearly 2,800 diapers to families from Greenfield, Lynchburg,  Leesburg, and Mowrystown.  The Baby Olympics, an event in May 2022, is an opportunity for families in need to receive a clean pack of 20 or more diapers.

The Diaper Depot is asking for $2,000 to cover the costs of water and juice for the little ones as well as door prizes. We are planning to use gift cards from our Local Uptown Businesses.  Community members involved will furnish a table for setting up as well as plan age-appropriate (ages infant to 6 years)  games or activities for the participants. Diapers will need to be purchased to ensure all sizes will be available.

FAO staff comments.

Parents often are forced to choose between paying for food or buying diapers. Some parents have no choice but to leave their baby in a soiled diaper for extended periods or even reuse previous diapers. Babies without clean diapers are exposed to more potential health risks.
