Caldwell Community Weekend Backpack Program

Project led by Caldwell United Methodist Church

About the project.

Estimates show that 1 in 4 children suffer food insecurity. The Weekend Backpack Program provides food items during the school year to children identified by school administrators as at risk for hunger, in order to bridge the gap on days when they are not in school receiving free school breakfasts and lunches.

FAO staff comments.

The Caldwell United Methodist Church partners with Caldwell and Shenandoah Elementary Schools to provide weekend meals to children experiencing food insecurity. While children may receive meals during the week, many children experience hunger over the weekend. This project will provide the funds needed to expand the program to serve additional children.
