Project led by Georgetown Self Care Closet
About the project.
The Georgetown Self Care Closet provides basic needs items for students of Georgetown Elementary and Jr/Sr High Schools in attempt to minimize barriers for their social, emotional, and academic success. The closet supports students with weekend food bags, personal hygiene items, and various other basic needs items.
Based on the results of a needs assessment survey, this Cause Connector project will support the Georgetown Self Care Closet in purchasing 50 pairs of new shoes for students, as well as 50 hygiene kits. Each hygiene kit includes: a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, wash cloths, feminine hygiene products, lotion, lip care idems, deodorant, and other needed items.

Programs like this one recgonize that many factors contribute to a child’s educational success. When students do not have their basic needs met, learning becomes difficult or impossible.
This program helps students meet their basic needs, and it also helps to set students up for success in the classroom. Ultimately, this program can support better health and educational outcomes to make a lasting difference for students and ultimately strengthen whole communities.
