Library Wi-Fi Park

Project led by Muskingum County Library System

About the project.

The park has improved and extended the range of wireless connectivity at the library, delivering 24/7 Wi-Fi connectivity to Wi-Fi park visitors throughout the Village of Dresden and surrounding rural areas. Since the establishment of the Wi-Fi park, the number of connections to the internet via the Village of Dresden library Wi-Fi has grown rapidly – doubling to 7,691 connections per year between 2017 and 2018, and continuing to increase. Much of the increase in connectivity has come from students in the Tri-Valley School District, whose schools are all within walking distance of the library.

“For the socioeconomically vulnerable, public libraries often offer or serve as their primary access point to information,” shared the library system. “The Dresden Wi-Fi Park initiative is a vital resource and an initial step in remedying the shortage of connectivity and empowering informational equality.”

FAO staff comments.

Too many in Appalachian Ohio lack easy access to the internet, which is crucial to education, use of critical resources such as emergency services, and so much more. This makes it so important to support projects like the Muskingum County Library System’s Wi-Fi Park, which increase our region’s access to the internet.
